Fun ways to learn Japanese
Minari
Japanese isn’t the easiest language to learn, but everyone needs to learn at one point right? so why make the studying hard and expensive when you can make it cheap and fun for yourself! (Remember, learn hiragana, then katakana, then the grammar and then you can move onto the kanji) While I know how hard and confusing Japanese sometimes gets, here’s a list of ways you can improve your Japanese for fun!

- If you want to pick up on pronounciation: TV shows, Dramas, and News programs, make sure they’re in subs not dubs, listening to Japanese songs (Pop music uses a lot more daily phrases); you want to get used to the nuance of the language

- If you want to expand your vocabulary: bring a pocket dictionary with you and try to name things around you (like ‘Eye’ spy) when you’re bored.
If you want to practice sentence structure and expand your vocabulary: read anything that interests you… but in Japanese. Comic books and children’s books are the best place to start.

- If you want to improve your grammar / writing: keep a diary or a blog where you can write anything you can down in Japanese. If you don’t know what a phrase means, you can always look it up in a dictionary. This will act as a way to monitor your progress.

- If you want to work on speaking Japanese: Try to find a friend that is fluent in Japanese and talk to them in Japanese as much as you can. However it might be hard to find someone to listen to your repetitive and odd conversations. In that case you can always talk to a stuffed animal, an imaginary character or even to yourself! The key is to speak it.

Once you gained enough confidence, it may be a good idea to go onto Japanese chatting sites to interact with native speakers. Remember flashcards can also help a lot while you’re still learning Japanese.
