While I'm at it, here are some terms you should know when you go to the hospital*

受付 (Uketsuke) - Reception desk / Reception counter
(Shoushin Uketsuke) - First time visitors booth
(Yoyaku Uketsuke) - Reservation booth
(Shinsatsuken) - Hospital membership card
(Shinsatsushitsu) - Examination room
Blood testing room
(Kaikei Madoguchi) - Accountment window / payment booth
医者 (Isha) - Doctor
(Kangofu) - Nurse
患者 (Kanja) - Patient

Most doctors in Japan specialize in only one or two specific areas; rarely would you find a general practitioner at a hospital. Because of this, you will be asked about which department you need to go. If you don’t know what department you need to consult, ask someone working at the front desk (some will speak English)
