Garbage disposal can get confusing in Japan! Your school or city hall will have charts (hopefully in English as well!) to help you determine what goes where.

Garbage is largely divided into 'burnable', 'plastic', and 'non-burnable'. Non-burnables are the most complicated as they are usually further separated into types such as plastic bottles, glass, metal, clothing, etc. Each place has their own rules, so refer to your chart or ask other students and teachers for help :)
