Punctuality at work
Maryna
1)Time
時間
In Japan, people are taught to be punctual from childhood. Some people set their clock 5 minutes ahead, so that they have more time to act. Therefore, many people think that people who are lax about time are sloppy in everything. In particular, punctuality is the bare minimum of manners when it comes to work.

2)Working hours
就業時間
The rules of employment say that if work starts at 9:00 a.m., you should generally be at the office 10 minutes before. The same thing can be said about the time when you finish work.
If it seems that you will not be able to come in time, please contact your supervisor as soon as you realize that. If you say, “I can't make it in time” after the deadline, you'll inconvenience people who are waiting for your work.

3)Late
遅れる
Do not be late for your appointment, but if you are late, it is important to contact people as soon as possible. It is better to tell the other party directly by phone, also some companies seem to use SNS. Also, it doesn't mean that “just because I contacted you, that's enough”. Apologize properly if you arrive late.

4)Visit
訪問
When visiting other companies, punctuality is required. However, visiting too early can also be a problem. Consider train accidents and traffic jams and adjust the time, so that you arrive 5 to 10 minutes before the meeting.

5)Punctuality
時間厳守
Some people may think that being a minute or two late doesn't really matter. However, punctuality is fundamental when working with Japanese people. Since work schedules are based on the premise that you will always be punctual, if you don't meet the deadline, your next job will be greatly affected. Also, you may miss out on a big opportunity in your career.
