What to do with lost property?

First, try to remember where it could have happened. Suppose you left your bag on the subway. In this case, you need to contact the station employee, tell him the approximate time your item was forgotten, describe it and indicate the direction of the departed train. Even if the bag was not found right away, don't worry. In Japan, the chances of finding a bag are very high. In the subway, on the Japanese railways and at the airport there are rooms for storing forgotten things. Distracted people most often manage to find the suitcases, laptops, cameras they accidentally left behind. The most important thing is to describe the lost item as accurately as possible.

Second, get into the habit of taking checks in taxis. This will save you if you left anything in the taxi. The check always has the phone number of the main organization's office. They will try to help you in the search, however, with one caveat. Most likely, you will have to communicate in Japanese. Knowing the language will also come in handy if you forget something on the street and will be forced to report it to the police. In Tokyo's Shinjuku area, where many foreigners live, there is likely to be at least one Japanese police officer who speaks English, but this may be a problem elsewhere.

And finally, Japan is considered one of the safest countries in the world in terms of crime. Everyday life here is comfortable. If any problems arise for foreigners, then most often they are associated, in my opinion, with ignorance of local features. So be curious, learn not only the Japanese language, but also the culture and traditions of the Japanese people. This will allow you to better understand the Japanese, find a common language, and, most importantly, respond correctly in difficult life situations.
