Stranded technical interns may work in other fields from early Sept!

Technical Interns who are stranded in Japan after their term will be allowed to find work in other fields from early September, under a "Designated Activities" Visa.

According to the Ministry of Justice Japan, there are 218,727 Vietnamese (more than half of the whole cohort), 82,370 Chinese, 35,874 Filipinos and 35,404 Indonesians, as of end 2019.

For those who are experiencing difficulties due to the coronavirus pandemic, the Foreign Residents Support Centre (FRESC) will be offering telephone consultation in 14 languages (including English, Vietnamese and Chinese) from 1 September.
